Direct Drilling your crop.
We have added this section to fill it with facts and useful information, as well as attempting to dispel any myths or misconceptions there may be regarding Direct Drilling.
Did you Know #1: How Much Material Are you Really Sowing?
Sowing at the rate of 100kg per hectare on a machine with 12 inch spacings, you are sowing approximately 3 grams of material per metre of row.
Despite some thoughts, your material is not flowing like water or any liquid.
With so little material falling in a single meter of ground, the need to place that material more accurately and repeatability is the key to a successful crop.
Our boots are designed and tested with this very fact in mind - accurate and positive seed placement via better seed guidance as it leaves the ducting section of your boot.
Seed Charts:
These charts use your material type (wheat, peas, barley), sowing rate per hectare in kilograms and tyne spacing in millimeters or inches to approximate your seed distribution while sowing.
Look for the chart which applies to your material, tyne spacing and sowing rate per hectare to understand how many grams per square metre, seeds per square metre and seed spacing per millimeter you will have.
